An Afternoon with Annie
Sunday, August 14, 2005
2:00 - 4:00 pm
In 1997, Ann Getzoff, 58-year-old psychotherapist from Santa Cruz, California, was told she had Stage IV breast cancer, a terminal diagnosis. Her memoir interweaves two parallel journeys: a year of aggressive cancer treatment, and the following year of solo travel and adventure. At the conclusion of treatment, Ann bought a camper-van, put her belongings in storage, left her home and work to travel around the country and the world.
The author deftly blends the clinical, emotional, spiritual and adventurous aspects of her journey, a quest for connection and a place to be of service in the world. The result is an inspiring story of courage and grace, written with humor and poignancy.
Join commuknity in welcoming Ann for a reading and book signing as the kickoff event for "commuknity cares..." our commitment to support love and healing in our community. Our efforts in 2005 focus on supporting breast cancer awareness, research and the on-going process of healing for victims of the disease and the people who love them.
